Ciona is a small animal that grows naturally in the sea and provides us with animal proteins and other important nutrients. The cultivation of Ciona does not require the use of feed, chemicals, fresh water or land, giving Purply an extremely low carbon footprint of only 0.22 kg CO₂-eq/kg.
